Our TechTrain Super Novas are ready to take the skills from Bright Sparks and Rising Stars to the next level. Currently, the two programs for our older and more experienced students -Roblox and GDevelop Game Design Worlds- provide a deeper dive deeper into specific technology platforms and further advance their creative skills.
This 24-week program, consisting of 3 courses, is our most popular offering! Roblox is a global, digital community where millions gather every day to imagine, create, and share experiences in immersive, user-generated 3D worlds!
Game design and gameplay on Roblox is as limitless as your imagination! With approximately 150 million active users, including over 30% of all Americans under 16, our students have truly taken this creative and well moderated platform to their hearts, and created some amazing projects!
Roblox is built on the Lua programming language (used in many well known applications, including Adobe's Lightroom as well as being used for Minecraft and Lego Mindstorms. Students move through the Explorer, Builder, Creator course framework; gaining knowledge in the Roblox development environment to combine 3D design, coding and project planning. They will progress to more complex animation, Virtual Effects (VFX), and approach themes of digital citizenship in online communities and collaborations.
Students will create their own 'virtual museum' around a topic of personal interest, with a weighting towards socially-impactful issues. In this way, our students further develop their creative, collaborative and global skills.

GDev Game Design World is a 24 week program, consisting of 3 courses. GDevelop is an easy-to-use and powerful 2D, cross-platform open-source game engine.
Packed full of features to learn and combine to build games, 'GDev' is a unique and easy way to design game concepts, emphasizing an event system. Events are a powerful way to express the logic of a game without using a programming language. Students' games created with GDevelop can be published to Android, Apple iOS, Facebook Gaming, Steam and more!
By the end of the program, students understand essential concepts including coordinate planes, variables and coding logic in game design. Furthermore, we review our projects, the build process, planning methods, the games' UI and UX. We discuss what makes a well-designed game, and where we can iterate and improve.
As students move through the GDev's Explorer, Builder, and Creator courses, they will be challenged with more complex and abstract technical concepts, challenged to think ever more independently, cooperate ever more collaboratively, and persist towards solutions ever more resiliently!
